FAQ
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am based out of Chandler, Texas. A majority of my sessions are in Tyler, Palestine, Athens, and Longview. I LOVE to travel. I apply a standard 50 cents per mile for travel farther than 30 miles. For example, 75 miles of travel would cost $37.50 to be added to final charge.
When will we get our photos?
For a typical session, you will get a digital gallery released to you within 2 weeks of your session. I typically post on social media a "sneak peak" within the first week. For large events, your session will be sent to you within 3-4 weeks.
Can I purchase more pictures to add to my session?
Yes!!! The Miniature and The Traditional sessions will give an opportunity to purchase more photos to be added to your final gallery after your session. The Custom and Events session already provide all edited images available.
Will Dorsey Photography provide RAW images to clients?
Raw images are images that have not been edited by the photographer. I do not give out raw images to my clients. I provide edited images according to my style and client's input in order to give the best quality!
How do you photograph weddings?
I like to meet the couple in person over coffee or through zoom to answer any questions and capture the vision of your wedding day. From that meeting, I will create what is called a "shot list" for you to review, add to, and change. I will research the venue in advance, visit if I have the opportunity, and show up to your big day with a back-up camera, energy, and easy-going but professional nature. I also have a second-shooter option to be added to my wedding packages! My goal is to have great and clear communication.
What should I wear?
Whatever you want that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful! Do keep in mind that multiple patterns and loud colors can sometimes clash. As a photographer, I sometimes ask what wardrobe/colors are planned in order to best pick out locations.
What type of editing do you do?
I am a "soft" editor. I remove temporary blemishes, bruises, and scrapes. Lipstick on your teeth or mascara run? I will edit that out. Unwanted objects in the background? Gone. I whiten teeth and brighten eyes but I do not edit out the things that are permanent about you.
What is a retainer fee?
A retainer fee is the upfront cost to hold the date and time of your session. Dorsey Photography requires a 50 percent retainer fee to book your session. This amount will be taken off the total cost of your session due day of shoot.
Can I get my retainer fee back?
A retainer fee to book a session is non-refundable. Missing your appointment or failure to give notice to reschedule within 48 hours will result in forfeiture of your retainer fee, requiring a new retainer for rebooking.
Can I reschedule my session?
Life happens and sometimes a shoot needs to be rescheduled! As long as you give us a 48 hr heads up for non-emergent rescheduling, no new retainer fee is due to rebook for the first reschedule. Emergency happens? Just let us know and we can work with you.
